4 Ways to Wear Orange This Summer

Orange is such a happy, fun color. But! It can be pretty intimidating to incorporate into your wardrobe. That's why I decided to put together some outfits to help give all of you beautiful people some tips & inspiration.

1. Orange & White

One of the easiest ways to wear orange is to pair it with something white. That might seem like a super basic or boring choice, but I don't think that's the case at all. Here are a few reasons why I feel that way:

  1. The contrast between a crisp white and a bold orange creates a visually interesting outfit.

  2. They balance each other out. A neutral, like a white top, is perfect for toning down an outfit with a bold color. This makes it the perfect color combo for someone who wants a splash of color without going too extreme.

  3. Pairing orange and white is a great way to create chic & fun summer looks. In the outfit to the right, the skirt is feminine & bold, and putting it with a plain tee helps put more focus on the skirt. But! That doesn't cause the tee to completely disappear. High quality, plain tees can make outfits look more put-together and chic.

2. Orange & Purple

Now that we've gone over a safe, classic option, let's get more daring! It might sound strange at first, but purple is such a cool color to pair with orange. The key is in finding the right shades. If you're wearing a dark shade of orange you'll want to go with a dark shade of purple, too. That's why I went with all lighter colors in the outfit I created to the left.

It's important to note that the look I created is appropriate for formal settings like work, church, speaking engagements, etc. - that's because formal outfits don't have to be boring! It's all about finding the right pieces + pairing the right shades.

3. Orange & Pink

This might be my favorite combo on this list. I feel like part of the reason why is because it reminds me of rainbow sherbet ice cream...

But in any case, orange and pink are a great pairing if you want to create incredibly bold & feminine looks.

Similar to purple, a good rule of thumb is to stick with similar shades. That being said, in the outfit I put together, the shorts stand out more because they're slightly brighter than the tank top. So, if you're wanting your orange piece to be the focal point, make sure to pair it with a slightly less bold pink.

Also, notice that the shoes have pink and orange in them. A great way to tie together a look with two bold colors is by adding an accessory or two like shoes, a purse, or jewelry with both of those colors in them. Small touches like that will help make the outfit look more polished.

4. Orange & Multiple Colors

If you're someone who absolutely LOVES colors then this is a such a fun way to express that to the world. If you want to wear orange with a multi-color piece then I suggest choosing a solid orange piece.

There are SO many pairing possibilities but here are a few to get you started:

1. Orange dress + multi-color outwear

2. Orange shorts + multi-color top

3. Multi-color skirt + orange top
